From books or coaching, a student learns one approach to a problem. But when their own approach doesn't work, nobody explains why it failed — what line of reasoning went wrong. We start by analyzing the student's own solution, identify where their logic broke down, and then discuss a better approach. In the exam, students instinctively use their natural thinking — we fix that thinking at its root.
When a student's solution is correct but takes 8 minutes, we work on making it take 4. Shorter approaches, alternate methods, pattern recognition — this is the difference between 95 and 99 percentile. Most students can solve the problem. Toppers solve it faster.
